- SHM is produced by the action of a force that is directed towards a fixed point and is proportional to the distance from the point.
- SHM is NOT a uniform motion.
- In S.H.M.
- Displacement is always directed away from the mean position.
- Force is always directed towards the mean position (always directed opposite to the displacement).
- Acceleration is always directed towards the mean position. (always directed opposite to the displacement).
- Velocity is either directed towards or away from the mean position.

- In SHM as magnitude of acceleration is not constant, equation of translator motion cannot be applied.
